Westford Bridge was conceived as an opportunity for “living with nature”, in a pristine setting, at one with the local flora and fauna that abounds the area. Being only seven kilometres from Knysna town centre it is also very conveniently positioned and only a stone’s throw from all amenities, yet far enough to have the feel of country living.
The estate is embodied in 137 hectares of prime fynbos, afromontane forest and wetlands. Comprising no more than 58 residential stands and an up-market eco-lodge, the vast majority of the area is dedicated to nature , with kilometres of beautiful, well marked walking trails for the exclusive use of residents and their guests.
The area boasts hundreds of plant species which are beautifully presented under the NATURE section of this website for ease of identification, as well as a variety of fauna which include bushbuck, blue duiker, caracal, porcupine, honey badger, genet, baboon, monkey and otter. The bird-life is also most prolific with frequent and close-up sightings of the legendary Knysna lourie (Turaco). A look at the bird list, which is also featured in the NATURE section, attests to no less than 165 species that have been sighted within our reserve.
To ensure that buildings complement, rather than intrude on the serenity of this natural habitat, the “East Cape colonial” look was specified as the design style for all houses, with a maximum floor-area of just under 400m2. A standardised dark grey metal roof and a range of unobtrusive paint colours blend with the environment. Properties are generally well spaced and sized to ensure privacy and tranquillity and strategically positioned so as to optimise the spectacular river views that are a privilege to experience from each and every home.
